To deliver power to the fire station’s center room, the project required the installation of 20 remote power panels and ten power distribution units. Redundancy was built into the 1800-kW installation to guard against power outages. The project progressed successfully, finishing on time and within budget. As part of the “extremely complex project,” an old UPS unit had to be replaced with four new 1,200 kVa units. Before removing the backup “B” unit and installing a new B system, which consists of two new UPS with related switchgear and controls, Nova Electrical had to transfer service to the old “A” units and ensure that it held.
