Nova Electrical brought in new switchgear and related equipment, as well as brand-new 850-kW diesel generators, to replace the backup generators at 1299 Penn Ave NW. Nova Electrical maintained temporary generators on-site to conserve power while the new permanent generators and equipment were installed and extensively inspected. The system can now bring up and shut down the three generators as needed and perform automated testing thanks to the connection of all three to a 3,000-amp switchboard. The hospital that was already there and a new facility both had new chillers installed as part of the one-year project by Nova Electrical, which also upgraded the switchgear to 4,000 amps.
